A telephone call from a BBC Radio 4 researcher who is seeking an interview for a programme on small compositions. He has in mind the Four Notes for Vista. I no longer undertake interviews, as I prefer to do what I do, rather than talk about what I do. For 30 years I talked more about what I was doing, than doing it. He attempts to persuade me otherwise – of course! he says - and I explain that this is why I don’t usually take calls from aspirant interviewers.

Further along, the serpentine wall of Wilsford Manor, home to Stephen Tennant (also here) …
Mr. Romain, a bona local, as a child wondered aloud as to the indentity of the beautiful woman riding a horse in the valley.

Those posters to the Guestbook, who are afraid that this photography might be dangerous, may I reassure them: when both my hands are engaged in photography, I am well able to steer with my feet, especially driving down hill - the momentum of the car freeing my accelerator foot. And if I am leaning out of a window to take a shot, I usually pull over & photograph while stationary.
As I arrive, the Minx is on BBC TV1; a Saving Planet Earth programme, on a fun quiz show hosted by Graham Norton…
The male team includes Bill Oddie & Brian Blessed. On the ladies’ team, Carol Thatcher, daughter of the former Prime Minister, is on the left…
Which is the hairiest animal in the world? asks Graham. Brian Blessed! answers Toyah…
The Minx rules!
